Java and Bedrock

Java and Bedrock players share the same worlds, the same economy and the same chat.

What is the same#

  • The same worlds, builds and horses.
  • The same custom items, blocks and models. Bedrock players see them through a resource pack that is sent when you join.
  • Your progress, balance and ownership are tied to your account, not to a device.

What is different#

Your name#

Bedrock names show with a dot in front, for example .PlayerName. That is how the network tells the two editions apart. Staff and other players will see the dot in chat and on lists.

Custom content after an update#

When new custom items or models are added, Bedrock clients only pick them up after you leave and join again. If something looks like a plain placeholder item, rejoin the server and it should load properly.

Some menus are laid out differently on each edition, because Bedrock uses its own form screens. The options are the same, only the presentation changes.
